Dental emergencies are part of life and can affect people of all ages. Fortunately, I treat dental emergencies fast in my dental office.
A dental emergency can mean many things, so if you’re unsure about your situation, call a member of my dental team today for an over-the-phone assessment. They can advise you on the best course of action—coming in immediately or waiting until the next available appointment.
If you have pain and swelling, it is always a dental emergency!
Common Dental Emergencies
Severe Toothache
A severe toothache, especially with a swollen face or gums, is a sign of infection. These deep tooth infections typically require gentle root canal therapy to ease pain, restore function, and save the tooth from loss.
A tooth root infection is the most common dental emergency I see.
Cracked or Broken Tooth
If a small chip or crack is not painful, it can sometimes wait until the next available appointment. However, a severe break requires emergency dentistry as soon as possible.
Knocked-Out Tooth
I offer same-day emergency dentistry and prompt appointments because I never want you to feel pain. Additionally, timely intervention means I can sometimes save a knocked-out tooth by resetting it into the jaw.
If you’ve knocked out a tooth, keep it in a cup of saliva or milk. This helps keep it viable until you see me.
